Charlie Bass
Charlie Bass received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hawaii in 1972. After graduation, he accepted a position teaching computer science at UC Berkeley, and in 1975, he joined Zilog, a microprocessor company which developed the Z80; an architecture employed in literally billions of embedded applications. In 1979, he co-founded Ungermann-Bass, the first networking company to deliver computer independent local networks and the first to go public in 1983. From 1983 to 1997, Dr. Bass was the Consulting Professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. In 1989, he formed Bass Associates, a venture capital company specializing in early stage investments, which he managed until 2001.
David Crockett
David Crockett is a founding partner of Aspen Ventures, a venture capital firm that specialized in seed and early stage funding for technology start-ups. Prior to founding Aspen, Crockett served as a Vice President for 3i Ventures, President and CEO of Pyramid Technology, and President and CEO of Dataquest. Crockett has held management and operational positions with Hewlett Packard and IBM and was a principal in two start-up companies that were successfully acquired. He has served on 20 private and 10 public board of directors. Professional Boards have included National Science Foundation’s Emerging Technology Transfer, Executive Board of the American Electronics Association, Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Advisory Board for the School of Engineering at the University of Illinois and the Editorial Board for Reference Data for Engineers: Radio, Electronics, Computer, and Communications. Crockett holds a BSEE from Brigham Young University, a MSEE from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
Hidenori Hasebe Hidenori Hasebe is the General Manager of the IT Business Division of Itochu Corporation, one of the world’s leading trading companies with approximately $100 billion of annual turnover. Itochu’s IT Business Division has distributed IT products from more than 100 U.S. high technology vendors to the Japanese market in the past decade. Hidenori was formerly the General Manager for Product Marketing and Vendor Relations for Itochu Techno-Solution Corporation (CTC). Hidenori holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
Kazuhiko “Bob” Sunada Bob Sunada is the President and CEO of ITOCHU Technology, Inc. (ITI), the Silicon Valley-based technology business development and venture investment arm of ITOCHU Corporation. ITI has funded over 70 information technology companies with successes such as Siebel Systems, NVIDIA and Openwave. Bob joined ITOCHU Technology in 2003. Under his leadership, ITI has helped over a dozen companies enter the Japanese marketplace through venture investment and business development, including Aruba Networks, Starent Networks, Cast Iron Systems, Lambda OpticalSystems and Sling Media. Prior to joining ITI, Bob was the General Manager for strategy and financial planning in the IT & Telecommunications Division of ITOCHU. Before that, Bob was General Manager for the Asia, Africa & Europe Telecommunication Systems Department. During his career with ITOCHU, Bob has held various senior positions in sales, strategy and general management in an international capacity. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, Japan.
